In 1971 four people with a vision and a love of the American Quarter Horse came together in Vermont and organized what became known as Vermont Quarter Horse Association. In 1976 it was incorporated with the State of Vermont as a 501(c)7 non-profit corporation. Since then VQHA has advocated for the benefit of the breed, its owners, and the associated industry of trainers, breeders, tack shops, farriers, boarding facilities, veterinarians, trailer and truck dealers, etc who support and make a living from the breed within our state.
